Record what each proposal includes before comparing the totals. Mark an unanswered item as unknown, not as free. The worksheet does not adjust a contractor’s total or add arbitrary allowances to it; it makes scope differences visible for your next conversation.
How to compare the proposals
Ask each bidder to clarify quantities, preparation and repair assumptions, product systems, exclusions and inspection responsibilities. A cheaper surface-only scope cannot be compared directly with a proposal that includes grading, drainage and fencing. Use the cost guide for a worked example.
